Over the last several days, I have been thinking about that famous inauguration speech by John F. Kennedy back in 1961, where his famous quote, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” has gone down as iconic and memorable, but I wonder if we really embrace those words today? Our country, which has been the federal debt increase increase by more then 50% in the last 5 years, a rise in unemployment (and I don’t think that current number reflect the growing number of people who are able to work, but choose not to because they are ok with the welfare checks handed to them by the government, our country), and an education system which is struggling to set the young children, our future, up for success due to lack of funds as well as other things. We, as a nation, need to do more under the second part of that quote and step up to help the schools get the kids motivated to learn and be successful in the classroom as well as figure out how on earth our we going to pay this nearly 17 trillion dollar deficit (because the government certainly isn’t thinking about this as they continue to add the deficit as I’m typing this long rant). Happy Independence Day everyone! Enjoy this day of freedom which was given to us by our founding fathers and those who have done everything since then to ensure that we are still a free nation.
